MicroHUB project discussed at the Malta Crafting Ahead Conference 2022

Anamaria Magri Pantea, the Secretary General of our Maltese partner – International Integrity Foundation, was the keynote speaker at the Crafting Ahead: Conference on Artisanship in Malta organised by the Malta Crafts Foundation on 7th July 2022.
Besides motivating a 100+ audience of artisans and craft entrepreneurs on how to embrace an innovation culture, Anamaria also introduced them to the MicroHUB project. Specifically, the activities that we are implementing in 2022 and 2023, as well as the specific way in which artisans and craft entrepreneurs in Malta could benefit of the results of our project.
Creativity, inventiveness, ability to design and make unique new things are core characteristics of artisans and crafts people. But how can they move further into innovation, into turning their unique concepts into social and economic value? How can we help them shift their creative mindset from a product designer or maker, to a business makeover artist? How can we support them to embrace an innovation culture to rethink, transform and upscale the business model of their craft microbusiness to generate more value for more users, and ultimately for themselves and their community? How can the Microhub project that we are currently implementing be of help in this sense? All these questions were addressed one by one by Anamaria, both during her keynote speech and during the group discussions that took place in the afternoon of the event.
The event was also an opportunity for our project to forge closer relations with various other Maltese stakeholders supporting the crafts sector. For example, the Arts Council Malta and Malta Enterprise Business 1st, as well with the World Crafts Council Europe, that was represented at the event by its Secretary General – Elizabeth Miroshnichenko.
We very much look forward to our Maltese partner and colleagues to also participate in the 2023 artisanship conference in Malta. Especially as this is planned to be organised back-to-back with the World Craft Council Europe Congress, to be hosted by Malta in 2023. This will be a great opportunity to further disseminate the results of our MicroHUB project and to keep supporting the growth, strengthening and continued viability of the crafts sector, not just in Malta but all across Europe.
