USING SUSTAINABLE
MATERIALS AND CERAMICS
Artisans and crafters can be encouraged to use certain
materials that are more kind to the environment. Things like
porcelain, stoneware and earthenware are just some of the
major types of pottery ware that’s produced by heating natural
materials (often clay) to remove water, which can then be used
for thousands of other uses, everything from crockery to
jewellery.
Natural clay is plentiful and easy to
extract. This means that extraction,
fuel consumption, and transportation
costs are all kept to a minimum
during the production process as
they are often located near relevant
factories. Efficient production plays
a major role in materials being
considered truly sustainable.
